Caron

The Maverick Fragrance-Maker

Caron is revered name in Parisian Haute Parfumerie.

Founded in 1902, the house is well-known for the original personality of its perfumes : “Pour un Homme de Caron”, launched in 1934, ranks among the most celebrated fragrances of all time. Today, Caron’s masculine range features a limited but magnificent collection of perfumes to (re)discover – like the impetuous Anarchiste or the more discreet Yuzu, both composed by gifted third generation nose Richard Fraysse.

Royal Bain

Tonic, unisex and antiquated; opens on a soft bouquet of lilac and viola that paves the way to the imperious benzoin, laced in musk and vanilla. Quite the opulent fragrance indeed, and sophisticated in a charmingly obsolete kind of way. Did you know that Royal Bain is sometimes used as a « good luck » gift in a few South American countries , as well as in certain parts of Africa, where it is also used in a religious rituals … ?

En Avion

Worn by the most dandy of men, confident enough to cross the boundaries between masculine and feminine perfumery ; En Avion opens on a strong wave of resinous, floral, and bitter flourish that evaporates softly. The progression is highly complex – but no note ever takes precedence over another. En Avion is a ballet : perfectly choreographed, indeed absolutely passé, but of great formal beauty. Can only be worn with a healthy dose of sheer audacity.

Yuzu

Caron’s latest masculine fragrance is built around yuzu – a very specific Japanese citrus – and basil, with a discreet touch of fig to sweeten the deal. A simple fragrance, clean and comfortable, that does not innovate as much as it constitutes a safe choice for citrus lovers and a perfect entry point for those new to Caron’s uncompromising universe.

Tabac Blond

Pour un Homme de Caron is a legend. Tabac Blond is a myth. An androgynous, delicate piece of perfumery, with a strong masculine opening and an equally strong feminine heart – floral scents give way to leather undertones, in a strikingly rich dialogue that changes in tone and personality each time you take a whiff. As Ambivalent as few perfumes get.

Poivre

The ideal sidekick to Tabac Blond ; a strong breath of freshly ground black pepper – warm and spicy. Poive is able to stand alone as a spiced holiday fragrance, but when layered with Tabac Blond, it becomes much more ; a sacred beast, a relentlessly complex juggernaut that has to be worn with panache, lest you be devoured by its aromatic strength.

L’Anarchiste

Contemporary class – an urban fragrance, minty-citrus on musk, sprinkled with cedar shavings and sandalwood dust. L’Anarchiste is easy to wear, sophisticated, and strangely unique ; an elusive piece of work, whose exact composition seems to change with every whiff.

Pour un Homme de Caron

As classic as classics get – the house’s best-seller is an explosive lavender laced with vanilla which shifts with subtle aromatic strength. Nothing can be said about Pour un Homme that hasn’t been said elsewhere ; it is quite simply a timeless piece of perfume history, distilled from the stuff legends are made of.

Le Troisième Homme de Caron

The third masculine fragrance from Caron, named after the eponymous Orson Welles movie, is quite the floral and fruity personage– with rich bergamote laced with tarragon, spiked with cloves, sprinkled with vetiver and covered in geranium petals. A truly beautiful masculine fragrance, unique and androgynous, for those who refuse the mundane and stereotypical.

Les Eaux de Caron

L’Eau Pure is worn as a comfortable veil tinged with citrus and slightly spiced with a touch of coriander and grated nutmeg. Ideal for summer wear, paired with a freshly ironed white shirt.

L’Eau Cologne, the second part of the Eaux de Caron dyptich, opens on notes of tangerines and bergamot, that moves on to a heart of blooming rosemary, petitgrain and neroli. An EDT that is worn close to the skin with a pleasant and airy aroma. Ideal for occasions that require discretion.

Yatagan

Merciless leather – a touch of artemisia, a drop of petitgrain on an expansive bed of shuffled vetiver, patchouli and pine needles. A relic from the steppe, strongly masculine, green and stained with dirt. A niche fragrance without a doubt – the stubborn sort of niche that refuses to die down.
